RoomMe is a roommate-matching service for adults. These are our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and how we enforce them.

Who can use RoomMe

RoomMe is only for people aged 18 and older. Signup requires a date of birth, and the app does not let anyone younger create a profile. Our Terms prohibit use by anyone under 18. When we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it.

What is prohibited

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. The following are prohibited on RoomMe and result in immediate, permanent removal:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, generated, or edited imagery.
  • Sexualizing minors in any way, in photos, profiles, or messages.
  • Grooming, soliciting, or attempting to contact a minor for sexual purposes.
  • Using RoomMe to arrange, advertise, or facilitate the exploitation or trafficking of a minor.
  • Sharing, requesting, or linking to any of the above elsewhere.

Reporting in the app

Every profile and every conversation has a Report option. Choose it to tell us about anything that concerns you; reports are private and the person you report is not told who made the report. You can also block someone at any time, which ends the conversation and removes them from your feed.

To report a child safety concern directly, email roomme.contact@gmail.com with the subject line Child Safety. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first.

What we do with a report

  • We review child safety reports as our highest priority.
  • We remove offending content and accounts, and prevent them from returning.
  • We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires, and cooperate with law enforcement.
  • We preserve relevant information as the law requires to support an investigation.

Contact

Our designated point of contact for child safety is reachable at roomme.contact@gmail.com.
