Delete your account

How to delete your RoomMe account and the data tied to it.

In brief

  • Delete from the app: Settings, then Account, then Delete account.
  • No app? Email roomme.contact@gmail.com from the phone number on the account, subject "Delete my account".
  • Your profile, photos, synced contacts and sign-in record are removed. Messages you sent stay with the person you sent them to.

You can delete your RoomMe account and the data tied to it at any time, from the app or by email. This page explains both ways, what is removed, and what is kept.

Delete from the app

  1. Open RoomMe and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings, then Account.
  3. Tap Delete account, then enter the code we text to your phone number to confirm it is you.

Deletion takes effect as soon as you confirm, and cannot be undone.

Delete by email

If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, email roomme.contact@gmail.com with the subject line Delete my account, and include the phone number on the account. We may ask you to confirm that the number is yours before we delete anything. We complete email requests within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: name, birthday, school or city, answers, preferences, and everything else you filled in.
  • Your profile photos.
  • The contacts you chose to sync for mutual friends.
  • Your likes, passes, matches, and block list.
  • Your sign-in record, including your phone number.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Messages you sent. Conversations are ended, not erased: the other person keeps the messages you exchanged, the same as a text thread after someone changes numbers. Your profile no longer appears with them.
  • Backups. Copies of deleted data remain in our database backups until those backups expire, within 7 days.
  • Purchase records. If you subscribed, Apple or Google and our payment processor keep the transaction record as required for tax and accounting. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions first.
  • Aggregate analytics. Usage statistics that do not identify you, such as daily sign-up counts, are not removed.
  • Safety and legal holds. Information about a report of abuse, or anything we are legally required to keep, is retained only as long as that purpose requires.
